Seven facts about Lithuania

In the four days between June 14 and June 18, 1941 40,000 Lithuanians were exiled and shipped to Siberia and soviet camps.

Once the Soviets reoccupied Lithuania in 1944, 90% of lithuanian jews were dead because of the germans.

Lithuania became part of the Soviet Union in August of 1940.

When the Germans declared war on the Soviets, the Lithuanians held a revolt and in doing so, they liberated a majority of their nation.

Lithuania is the southernmost country in the Baltic states.

The Lithuanians killed in the Rainiai massacre were tortured. They were burned by hot water and acid, electrocuted, had their bones crushed, and suffered several other gruesome torture methods.

Lithuania gained its full independence back when the USSR collasped in 1991.
